Asparagus with Puff Pastry due to the combination of the buttery, crisp, and flaky puff pastry with asparagus is a very delicious appetizer.

Ingredients for Asparagus with Puff Pastry
- 8 asparagus spears
- 1 rectangular puff pastry sheet (230 g)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 garlic clove
- Salt & pepper
To make this tasty appetizer, we first prepare the asparagus spears. Therefore, trim the pale ends of each stalk with a knife or by simply bending the hard part of each stalk until it snaps. After that, cook the asparagus stalks in boiling water with a pinch of salt for 5 minutes. Then drain them and place them on kitchen paper to absorb the excess water.
Next, cut the puff pastry sheet into 8 equal parts. Then mince the garlic clove. After that, in a bowl mix the minced garlic with salt, pepper, brown sugar, soy sauce, and olive oil.
Now line a baking tray with parchment paper. After that, wrap the prepared puff pastry strips around each asparagus stalk. Next, place them on the baking tray and leave a little space between them because the puff pastry will expand as it bakes in the oven. Then with a silicone kitchen brush, brush the prepared garlic and soy sauce mixture over the asparagus stalks wrapped with the puff pastry strips.
Finally, bake the asparagus in the preheated oven to 200º C for 20 minutes until they are golden brown.
Notes: You can also add some aromatic herbs like oregano, or rosemary to the soy sauce mixture. And instead of cooking the asparagus in boiling water, you can cook it in a steamer until tender. But either you cook the asparagus in boiling water or in a steamer, this veggie is one of the most nutritionally well-balanced vegetables.
