Breakfast Bread

Breakfast bread is soft and fluffy and tastes and smells like heaven because it has saffron and rose water. You can make it in 40 minutes.

Ingredients for Breakfast Bread

  • 200 g flour
  • 100 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 80 ml milk ( or any plant-based milk)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp ground saffron
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp rose water


First, prepare a rectangular pan mold of 30 cm X 10 cm and preheat the oven to 180 ºC. Then in a large bowl, beat the egg with sugar and butter with an electric hand mixer for about 1 minute until the mixture is paler in color. After that, dissolve the ground saffron in 1 tablespoon of boiling water and let it cool. Then add the saffron, rose water, milk, and orange zest to the bowl and mix the ingredients with a silicone spatula.

Next, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt first, and then add them to the bowl. Mix gently with the silicone spatula until all the flour is incorporated and there are no flour pockets left. But do not overmix the batter.

Now add the batter to the pan mold, spread the poppy seeds on top of it, and bake the breakfast bread in the oven for 40 minutes. When the breakfast bread is ready, leave it on the rack to completely cool and then cut it into 8 equal parts.

Notes: All the ingredients must be at room temperature. Also, you can keep the breakfast bread in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one month.
