Ingredients for:
Lentil Burgers
- 150 g green lentils
- 50 g walnuts
- 3 tbsp rolled oats
- 2 carrots
- 1 spring onion
- 2 tomatoes
- 4 slices of cheese
- 1/4 tsp red chilli pepper flakes
- Olive oil
- Salt
Meanwhile, peel and chop the carrots, slice the tomatoes and cut the spring onion as well. Next, in a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil and then add the spring onion to it. When the spring onion is translucent, add the carrots and cook them for about 2 minutes.
Then add the cooked lentils with fried carrots and spring onion, walnuts, rolled oats, red chilli pepper flakes and salt to the food processor and pulse until all the ingredients are mashed and combined. If the mixture seems too wet, add more rolled oats as needed.
Now form 4 individual round and flat patties with your hands. After that, in a small frying pan (14 cm), warm the olive oil over medium-heat and cook the burgers on each side for about 3-4 minutes until they are golden brown. These burgers are tender, so when you want to flip them, place a plate over the frying pan and then flip the burgers.
To assemble the burgers, warm the burger buns first and then add the tomato and cheese slices to the lentil burgers and serve them. You can accompany these burgers with green salad and french fries as well.
