Veggie Burgers

Veggie Burgers are flavorful and the texture of these burgers will surprise you. They are made with kidney beans, chickpeas, and rolled oats.

Ingredients for Veggie Burgers

  • 100 g red kidney beans
  • 100 g chickpeas
  • 65 g rolled oats
  • 100 g mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 pickles
  • 1 avocado
  • 100 g lettuce
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper


To prepare veggie burgers, you need to soak the red kidney beans and chickpeas for 12 hours. Then cook them in boiling water for 30 minutes. After that, drain them in a colander and set them aside.

Then finely chop the onion. After that, in a bowl mash the avocado with a fork and mix it with the chopped onion. Next, slice the tomato and mushrooms and chop the lettuce. Then, with a fruit peeler, cut the pickles into thin slices.

Now in a bowl, add the red kidney beans, chickpeas, oats, red chili powder, cornflour, black pepper, and salt. Then mash all the ingredients with a potato masher. Do not use a food processor to mix the ingredients, because the mixture will come out like a paste. But by using a potato masher, these veggie burgers will have a better texture. After that, shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.

Then in a non-stick frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and fry the burger patties on both sides until they are slightly brown. After that, fry the mushrooms as well.

To assemble the burgers, top each bun with 1 tablespoon of the avocado mixture. Then add the sliced pickles. After that, add the patties, fried mushrooms, tomato, and lettuce on top. Finally, the Veggie Burgers are ready to serve.

Note: Instead of red kidney beans, you can also use white beans, navy beans, or butter beans.
