Arugula Pizza

Ingredients for Arugula Pizza

For pizza topping:

  • 50 g arugula
  • 4 mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 40 g pitted green olives
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 400 g grated mozzarella
  • 1 tbsp oregano

For pizza dough:

  • 250 g flour
  • 150 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 packet dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

This arugula pizza recipe is for 2 pizzas and first, we prepare the pizza dough.

Therefore in a large bowl, add the flour, dry yeast, salt, and sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix them well. Then gradually add the lukewarm water to the bowl and begin to knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough is forming into an elastic ball and it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Now lightly dust your hands with flour and form the pizza dough into a round ball and transfer it to a clean bowl brushed with olive oil. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise for 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Meanwhile, we prepare the pizza toppings. First, chop the onion in julienne. Then slice the mushrooms and cut the green olives in half.

After 45 minutes and once the dough has risen, gently deflate it with your hands and divide it into two equal parts. Next, transfer the doughs to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3 minutes. Use your hands or a rolling pin to shape the doughs and then transfer them to the pizza pans lined with parchment paper.

Adding the pizza toppings

Time to add the toppings to the arugula pizza. First, add the tomato sauce and spread it evenly with a spoon to cover the doughs. Then add 100 g of grated mozzarella to each dough. After that, add the chopped onion, sliced mushrooms, green olives, and arugula in equal amounts to each dough. Finally, add the oregano and the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top of all the ingredients.

Now bake the pizzas in the preheated oven to 220 ºC for 30 minutes until their crust is slightly golden.

Note: Also, you can add the arugula to the pizzas after removing them from the oven.
