Ingredients for Mushroom Pizza

Mushroom Pizza recipe

For pizza dough:

  • 125 g flour
  • 75 ml lukewarm water
  • 5 g dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For pizza topping:

  • 150 g mushrooms
  • 125 g fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 10 g arugula

Instructions

This homemade mushroom pizza recipe is for 1 pizza of 30 cm round and first we prepare the pizza dough.
Therefore in a big bowl add the flour, dry yeast, salt, and sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix them well. Then gradually add the lukewarm water to the bowl and begin to knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough is forming into an elastic ball and it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Now lightly dust your hands with flour and form the pizza dough into a round ball and transfer it to a clean bowl brushed with olive oil. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise for 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Preparing the pizza topping

Wash and then completely dry the mushrooms with kitchen paper. Next, cut the mushrooms into thin slices.

After 45 minutes and once the dough has risen, gently deflate it with your hands. Then transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3 minutes. Use your hands or a rolling pin to form a 30 cm round and avoid touching the edges of the dough. Now transfer the dough to a pizza pan lined with parchment paper.

Time to add the toppings for the mushroom pizza. First, add the tomato sauce and spread it with a spoon to cover the dough. Then evenly spread half of the fresh mozzarella on top of the tomato sauce. Next, add the sliced mushrooms, oregano, and the rest of the cheese.

Now bake the mushroom pizza in the preheated oven to 220 ºC for 20 minutes until its crust is slightly golden. Finally, add the arugula to the pizza and then serve it.

Note: To make this pizza, you can also use oyster mushrooms or portobello mushrooms.
