Ingredients for Oyster Mushroom Pizza

Oyster Mushroom Pizza recipe

For pizza topping:

  • 100 g oyster mushrooms
  • 2 plum tomatoes
  • 1 cubanelle pepper
  • 125 g fresh mozzarella
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper

For pizza dough:

  • 125 g flour
  • 75 ml lukewarm water
  • 5 g dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

This oyster mushroom pizza recipe is for 1 pizza of 30 cm round and we prepare the pizza dough first.
Therefore in a large bowl, add the flour, dry yeast, salt, and sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix them well. Then gradually add the lukewarm water to the bowl and begin to knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough is forming into an elastic ball and it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Now lightly dust your hands with flour and form the pizza dough into a round ball and transfer it to a clean bowl brushed with olive oil. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise for 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Meanwhile, we prepare the pizza toppings. First, cut the tomatoes into slices, cut the mushrooms and cubanelle pepper into strips and mince the garlic. Then in a frying pan over high-heat, warm the olive oil and fry the oyster mushrooms with garlic, salt, and pepper. After that, set them aside to slightly cool.

After 45 minutes and once the dough has risen, gently deflate it with your hands. Next, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3 minutes. Use your hands to form a 30 cm round and avoid touching the edges of the dough. Now transfer the dough to a pizza pan lined with parchment paper.

Adding the pizza toppings:

Time to add the toppings to the pizza. First, add half of the fresh mozzarella cheese and spread it evenly. Then add the sliced tomatoes, cubanelle pepper, fried mushrooms, oregano, and the rest of the cheese.

Finally bake the oyster mushroom pizza in the preheated oven to 220 ºC for 20 minutes until its crust is slightly golden.

Note: Instead of frying the oyster mushrooms in olive oil, you can also grill them and then add them to the pizza.
