Spinach Pizza recipe

Ingredients for Spinach Pizza

For pizza dough:

  • 250 g flour
  • 150 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 packet dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For pizza topping:

  • 50 g spinach
  • 1 cubanelle pepper
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 onion
  • 300 g fresh mozzarella
  • 1 tbsp oregano

Instructions

This homemade spinach pizza recipe is for 2 pizzas of 30 cm round and we prepare the pizza dough first. Therefore in a big bowl add the flour, dry yeast, salt, and sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix them well. Then gradually add the lukewarm water to the bowl and begin to knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough is forming into an elastic ball and it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Now lightly dust your hands with flour and form the pizza dough into a round ball and transfer it to a clean bowl brushed with olive oil. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise for 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Meanwhile, we prepare the pizza toppings. First, chop the cubanelle pepper into strips. Then slice the onion as well.

After 45 minutes and once the dough has risen, gently deflate it with your hands and divide it into two equal parts. Next, transfer each dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3 minutes. Use your hands or a rolling pin to shape each dough into 30 cm round. Now transfer the doughs to pizza pans lined with parchment paper.

Add the toppings

Time to add the toppings to the spinach pizzas. Add in equal parts all the prepared ingredients to each dough. First, add the tomato sauce and spread it with a spoon to cover each dough. Then add the cubanelle pepper and onion in equal amounts. After that, add the fresh mozzarella cheese and spinach. Next, add the oregano on top of all the ingredients. Finally, bake the spinach pizzas in the preheated oven to 220 ºC for 30 minutes.

Note: Instead of fresh mozzarella cheese, you can also use shredded mozzarella.
