Ingredients for:
Spinach Pizza

For pizza topping:

  • 50 g spinach
  • 1 long green pepper
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 onion
  • 300 g fresh mozzarella
  • 1 tbsp oregano

For pizza dough:

  • 250 g flour
  • 150 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 packet dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

This home made spinach pizza recipe is for 2 pizzas of 30 cms and first we prepare the pizza dough.

Therefore in a big bowl add the flour, dry yeast, salt and sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix them well. Then add the lukewarm water gradually to the bowl and start to knead the dough by your hand more or less during 5 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough is forming into an elastic ball and it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Now lightly dust your hands with flour and form the pizza dough into a round ball and transfer it to a clean bowl brushed with olive oil. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise during 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Meanwhile we prepare the pizza toppings. First chop the green pepper in julienne. Then chop the onion as well.

After 45 minutes and once the dough has risen, gently deflate it using your hands and divide it in two equal parts. Then transfer the doughs to a lightly floured surface and knead about 3 minutes. Use your hands or a rolling pin to shape the doughs into 30 cm circles. Now transfer doughs to a parchment paper-lined pizza pans.

It is time to add the toppings for the spinach pizza; add in equal parts all the prepared ingredients to each dough. First add the tomato sauce and spread it with a spoon to cover the doughs. Then add the long green pepper and onion in equal amounts to each dough. After that, add the fresh mozzarella cheese and spinach. Finally add the oregano on top of all the ingredients.

Now you can bake the spinach pizzas in preheated oven to 220 ºC during 30 minutes.
