Healthy Chickpea Snack

  • 200 g Chickpeas
  • 5 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Salt


My grandmother used to make me this healthy chickpea Snack.
To prepare this snack, first soak the chickpeas for 24 hours in a big bowl with plenty of water. Then drain them and dry them really well with a kitchen towel. After that, pour the chickpeas in a bowl and mix them well with salt, oregano, black pepper and olive oil. Then pour the mixture in an oven tray. It is important that the chickpeas are just in one layer and not on top of each other. Now bake them in preheated oven to 200 ºC for 60 minutes. Every 15 minutes, take the tray out and give it a good shake and then put the tray back in the oven. Some of the chickpeas may pop during the baking time in the oven, it is okay and there is no problem.

Note: You can add rosemary, smoked red paprika powder, or turmeric to your chickpeas as well.
